Subject:Flattening and Optimizing in Acrobat 8

I'm trying to perfect my flattening skills in Acrobat 8. I create a flattening
preset with fonts converted to paths clicked. I then optimize with that
setting but when I open the optimized pdf in illustrator to check the file the
fonts have not been converted to paths. What am I doing wrong?

Has there been any transparency on the page? If flattener does not find
transparent objects on the page it does nothing.
